Running is not, as it so often seems, only about what you did in your last race or about how many miles you ran last week. It is, in a much more important way, about community, about appreciating all the miles run by other runners, too.

I absolutely agree with this. I used to run alone, but now do almost all of my runs with a group of friends who have grown to feel like family. When you train and race with others, it creates such a powerful feeling of community.
Oh yes. I remember the days when I had friends to run with. Those were awesome days. Maybe one day when I can actually run outside again I’ll find a group of folks to run with here in Wilsonville, Oregon!
Yes! Even though I don’t run in groups, I still feel so connected to my community of runners. Whenever I pass another one on the road, stop by my local running store, or make eye contact with someone reading Runner’s World, it’s like a small, but meaningful connection with others who get it.
I am so there with you. Plus, I absolutely love all my online runner friends. Wouldn’t it be cool if someday we can all meet somewhere and run together! LOL, until then maybe virtual runs on Internet ready treadmills will do.
That would be amazing!
